July 13, 2006 - Bellies Get Playoff Bye with Win Over Stickmen

New Westminster Salmonbellies finished in second place with a 15 to 7 victory over the Surrey Stickmen in BC Junior A Lacrosse action Thursday night at North Surrey Recreation Centre. Both the Burnaby Lakers, who finished first, and the Salmonbellies, will receive byes into the second round of the playoffs.

The Salmonbellies were led by Kyle Belton who had a seven point night on three goals and four assists. Dave Jenkins, Curtis Hoyland and Max Gallant each scored twice. Kevin Crowley had five points with one goal and four assists. Rounding out the New West scoring were Mike Paul, Leif Paul and Steve Tessarollo.

The Stickmen put up a spirited effort despite a short bench. Craig Vermette had a big night against his former teammates getting six points on two goals and four assists. Robert Rowan had four points on one goal and three assists. John Ballantine scored twice and assisted on another goal. Devon Murphy and Robert Brommer each scored once.

Cody Lewis put in a strong performance in goal for Surrey facing a total of 70 shots. New West goaltenders, Craig Robertson and Chris Donaghue faced a total of 39 shots.

July 8, 2006 - Stickmen Lose to Delta after Great Start

Surrey Stickmen dominated the first period and led 5 to 2 at the end of the period but ended up losing 12 to 6 against the Delta Islanders in BC Junior A Lacrosse action Saturday night at Ladner Arena. Delta roared back with seven second period goals and Islander goaltender, Ray Hodgkinson, shut down the Stickmen after the seven minute mark of the second period.

Surrey scored five power play goals with Dane Eitel having a big night for Surrey scoring three goals with two assists. Ross Halliday scored twice and set two more goals. Craig Vermette also got a goal and an assist.

Delta scoring was contributed by eight different players. Junior B call up, Scott Husband, led the scoring with three goals and one assist. Scoring twice were Jason Jones and Vince Canil. Tom Johnson, Scott Boyle, Brodie Venn, Tanner Lemire and Justin Lalli each scored once.

The Stickmen out shot the Islanders 57 to 55. Delta had the edge in penalty minutes with 35 minutes to Surrey's 23 minutes.

The Stickmen's next game is on Thursday July 13, 2006 at North Surrey Recreation Centre against the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

July 6, 2006 - Adanacs Dominate Slimmed Down Stickmen Roster in 21 to 3 Blow out

The Surrey Stickmen, who officially eliminated from the playoffs last Saturday, sat several veterans to give Intermediate call-ups a chance to audition for next season were no match for the Coquitlam Adanacs in BC Junior A Lacrosse action Thursday night at North Surrey Rec Centre.

Eleven different Coquitlam players scored with Jordan Weir, Calvin Craig, and Jarrett Davis each getting three goals. Steve McKinley had seven points on one goal and six assists and Ryan Kwasnica had six points on two goals and four assists. Scoring for Surrey were Craig Vermette, Robert Brommer and Dane Eitel.

Stickmen goaltenders, Cody Lewis and Brandon Smith were busy facing a total of 68 shots.

The Stickmen's next game is Saturday night, July 8, against the Delta Islanders in Ladner.

June 30, 2006 - Timbermen win, relegates Stickmen to last place

Nanaimo's Civic Arena continued to be a haven for the Timbermen as they defeated the Stickmen for the second consecutive time, this time 6-4 on Friday night.

Timbermen goaltender Tom Wray was a force stopping 56 of the 60 shots Surrey threw at him as the Stickmen dominated the game for large time frames but couldn't find the back of the net.

Matt Tregear and Colin Bell each scored two goals for the Timbermen. Dane Eitel and Jordy Willing each scored twice scored for the Stickmen.

Head Coach Kelly Scott was disappointed with the results and said “We were certainly in a position to win the game, we just came up short”.

Surrey managed to stay out of the penalty box being assessed only 10 minutes.

June 27, 2006 - Salmonbellies lead all the way with 7 - 2 win over the Stickmen

The Surrey Stickmen were defeated by the New Westminster Salmonbellies 7 to 2 at Queens Park Arena in Junior A Lacrosse action.

Seven Bellies found their mark with single goals by Dave Jenkins, Ben Davies, Curtis Hoyland, Curtis Manning, Graedon Cornfield, Alex Turner and the newly acquired Shawn Saunders. Craig Robertson, in goal stopped 25 shots before being replaced by Chris Donaghue due to a penalty and game misconduct. Chris Donaghue in net stopped 22 shots.

Stickmen goalie Cody Lewis faced the heat with an onslaught of 61 missiles with 7 finding the mark.

With the Stickmen scoreless in the first and second period, Devon Murphy scored his first goal of the season at 10:43 in the third period followed by a power play goal by Ryan Harwood at 12:52. Harwood scored on his own rebound. Assists were made by Dane Reelie and Dane Eitel. New recruit, Craig Vermette and call-up Lucas Munn joined the team's valiant effort to overcome the Salmonbellies.

The officials had a relaxing night, assessing 20 minutes including a ten minute misconduct to the home team and 14 minutes to the visitors.

June 25, 2006 - Shamrocks Romp to a 18-6 Victory over the Stickmen

The Victoria Shamrocks were "smoking" in the first period as they raced to a 5-0 lead in the first 2:33 of the game and capped it off with another 5 goals to lead 10-0 after the first period in BC Junior A Lacrosse action at Bear Mountain arena Saturday night.

Surrey came back hard in the second period and shutout the Shamrocks 3-0 to gain a measure of respectability back. It was more Victoria in the last period as they whipped the Stickmen 8-3 for a final 18-6 victory.

Head Coach Kelly Scott said "our bus was late getting us to the arena. The players didn't get into the game until the first period was almost over. We've got to be better prepared to start a game."

Recently acquired goaltender Brandon Atherton played half the game and only gave up 2 goals on 25 shots as he and Alex Peaty combined for the win.

Surrey's Cody Lewis and Brandon Smith faced a 61 shot barrage on the night.

The win pushes the Shamrocks into a fourth place tie with Coquitlam.

June 23, 2006 - Saints Easily Handle Stickmen in 12 - 3 Victory

Eights days ago the Surrey Stickmen were in the game right up to last minute against the Port Coquitlam Saints. The feeling amongst the Stickmen players was that they could win in POCO, playing the second game of their home and home series. After the first period, the score was 3 to 2 for the Saints giving and the Stickmen were confident heading into the dressing room at the first intermission.

That all evaporated early in the second period when POCO scored three quick goals on Surrey netminder Cody Lewis who didn't appear to be ready. He had come in relief of starter Brandon Smith who aggravated a previous ankle injury. As the game progressed, Lewis settled down and ended up stopping 33 shots. By then, the damage was done and the Stickmen could not mount any form of sustained offense and resorted to engaging in fights for the rest of the game.

Head Coach Kelly Scott said "it is frustrating when a team has the capability of winning, but loses confidence. Losing challenges everyone's confidence and a win will make everyone believers." He went on to say "team chemistry is good and the guys want to win, but it is tough to push them over the top."

The Surrey Stickmen have another shot at getting their third win on Saturday in Victoria against the Shamrocks.

June 15, 2006 - Dickson Leads POCO Saints in Hard Fought Win over Stickmen

Curtis Dickson had a five point night on three goals and two assists leading the Port Coquitlam Saints to a 11 - 8 victory over the Surrey Stickmen in BC Junior A Lacrosse action Thursday night at the North Surrey Rec Centre. The game was close throughout with several lead changes. The Saints pulled ahead at the 15:30 mark of the third period and added an empty net goal with 1:39 left in the game.

Also scoring for POCO was Tyler Crompton with three goals and Joel Dalgarno scoring two. Scoring one goal were Dayne Michaud, Casey Guern and Kevin Miotto.

Jarrett Neigum had four points for the Stickmen on two goals and two assists. Shawn Saunders, coming off injury, scored three times. Dane Eitel also got two goals and one assist with Ross Halliday rounding out the scoring for Surrey with one goal.

POCO's Jeff Lissimore held the Saints in the game stopping 23 of the 25 shots he faced in the third period. He faced 49 shots in total. Cody Lewis played well the Surrey nets making 38 saves.

The game was well played with only ten minutes per side in penalty minutes.

The Stickmen's next game is Friday June 23 against the Saints in Port Coquitlam.

June 11, 2006 - Lakers Still Undefeated with 12 to 4 Win over Stickmen

The Burnaby Lakers run their perfect record to 14 - 0 with a 12 - 4 win over the Surrey Stickmen in BC Junior A Lacrosse action Sunday night at Copeland Arena in Burnaby.

Leading the Lakers was Garrett Billings with six points on three goals and three assists. Ilija Gajic also had six points with two goals and four assists. Jamie Lincoln and Alex Gajic each scored twice. Chase Williams, Brad Richardson and Cory Melville rounded out the Burnaby scoring with a goal apiece.

Four veterans did the scoring for the Stickmen with Dain Panton, Dane Reelie, Dane Eitel and Keith Jones each getting one goal.

Garrett Billings was the most dominant player for Burnaby and Surrey's Mike Gilmore had one of his best games as a Stickmen on defense.

Cody Lewis played a solid game in goal for Surrey making 29 saves while Adam Meakes was not nearly as busy making 19 saves in the Burnaby goal.

The only part of the game that Surrey lead was in penalty minutes receiving 35 minutes to Burnaby's 25 minutes.

The Stickmen's next home game is Thursday, June 15 against the Port Coquitlam Saints at the Surrey Recreation Centre.

June 4, 2006 - Shamrocks Come on Strong in Third to Beat Stickmen 13 to 7

The Victoria Shamrocks scored seven goals in the third period to pull away from the Surrey Stickmen and win 13 to 7 in Junior A Lacrosse action Sunday night at North Surrey Rec Centre.

Victoria opened the scoring at the 4:05 mark of the first period on a power play goal by Curt Morwick assisted by Tyler Hass. Surrey countered at 5:04 with a goal scored by Jarrett Neigum assisted by Ryan Harwood and goaltender Bandon Smith. Surrey took the lead at 9.58 on a power play goal by Dane Eitel, assisted by Dane Reelie and Robert Brommer. The Shamrocks tied the game at 12.16 with a goal scored by Rhys Duch, unassisted. The score was tied at the end of the first.

In the second, the Shamrocks came out strong and took the lead at the 42 second mark on a power play goal by Tyler Hass assisted by Cory Conway and Rhys Duch. The Stickmen countered at 11:41 with Eitel's second goal assisted by Brommer and Ernie Hancock. Dain Panton regained the lead for the Stickmen with a goal at 6:06, assisted by Dane Eitel. The Shamrocks scored a three unanswered goals, Morwick's second on a power play at 11:41 assisted by Duch and Hass; Scott Dyrda at 13:02, an unassisted power play goal; and Morwick's third assisted by Conway and Bryan Brown. The score was 6 to 4 for the Shamrocks at the end of the second period.

In the third, Victoria continued to pour it on with a goal by Conway, unassisted, at 5:31; a goal by Davey Sundher at 6:33 assisted by Duch and Morwick and Duch's second goal at 9:04 assisted by Trevor Scott. Surrey got one back at 9:43 with a power play goal by Robert Brommer assisted by Panton and Reelie. Victoria got their fourth goal of the period at 10:05 scored by Conway, his second, assisted by goal tender Alex Peaty. Surrey closed within four at 13:43 on a power play goal by Keith Jones assisted by Panton and Reelie. Ross Halliday scored seven seconds later for Surrey assisted by Reelie. Victoria scored their final three goals at 14:01, 17:57 and 18:25 on Duch's third Kevin Milkowski's first and Luke Hinton first goal.

Matt Flindell started game for Victoria and made 23 saves before he was pulled in the third period for illegal equipment. Alex Peaty finished the game and made 11 sales. Brandon Smith played the entire game for Surrey and made 31 saves.

The Shamrocks had 44 penalty minutes to Surrey's 28.

The Stickmen's next game is Sunday June 11 at Burnaby.

May 31, 2006 - Stickmen Win Against Adanacs 8 to 4 with an Inspired Effort

The Surrey Stickmen rebounded from their devastating loss Friday night against Port Coquitlam with an outstanding game against the Coquitlam Adanacs, beating them 8 to 4 in BC Junior A Lacrosse action Wednesday night.

Surrey's Robert Brommer had a breakout game with three goals and one assist. Dain Panton also had a four point night with two goals and two assists. Dane Eitel scored two goals and Dane Reelie scored one goal with two helpers. Ryan Harwood, Owen Williams and Jordy Willing each got two assists.

Scoring for Coquitlam were Mark Philip, Ryan Demkier, Ryan Kwasnica and Joel Burges with one goal each.

Stickmen net-minder Cody Lewis gave a dazzling performance in goal stopping 51 of the 55 shots he faced in the game. Ray Hodgkinson and Tyler Richards combined stopped 32 shots.

Surrey led 4-0 at the end of the first period, scoring two powerplay goals. The score was 5-3 at the end of the second period with each team scoring one powerplay goal. Surrey outscored Coquitlam 3-2 in the third period with all even strength goals.

Coquitlam had a significant edge in penalties, racking up 79 minutes to Surrey's 59.

Stickmen's next home game is Thursday, June 1 against the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

May 26, 2006 - Stickmen Struggle in Second Game in Two Nights against PoCo

The Surrey Stickmen were thrashed 20 to 4 by the Port Coquitlam Saints in front of a good crowd Friday night in Junior A Lacrosse action at the Port Coquitlam Arena. Surrey was coming off an emotional loss to Delta the night before and looked lethargic and dispirited. Team defense was non-existent and the offence could not mount any sustained pressure.

The Saints spread their scoring among twelve players with Tyler Crompton and Casey Guerin getting three goals each. Dane Eitel scored three of the Stickmen goals with Ernie Hancock getting the other.

Cody Lewis and Rashad Dean split the goal tending duties and faced a combined 67 shots.

May 25, 2006 - Stickmen Lose Nailbiter 10-9 to Islanders

The Surrey Stickmen lost their second game in a row by one goal against the Delta Islanders in Junior A Lacrosse action at the North Surrey Rec Centre Thursday night.

Delta led the whole game on goals by Tom Johnson, Hiroshi Jensen, Tanner Lemire, Jason Jones, each with two and Brodie Venn and Neil Arbogast with one goal apiece. Johnson and Jones also had three assists each. Scoring for the Stickmen were Keith Jones and Robert Rowan with two goals each. Dain Panton, Dane Reelie, Shawn Saunders, Robert Brommer and John Ballantine each scored one goal. Dane Reelie assisted on four goals with Dane Eitel helping on three.

Delta lead 4 to 1 at the end of the first period; 7 to 5 at the end of second period and the final score was 10 to 9.

Surrey got off to a slow start in the first period but pulled within one goal with 1:04 left in the third period after exerting sustained pressure. It was the outstanding play of Delta goaltender Ben Salter that preserved the win for Delta.

Salter made 38 saves while Surrey net minder, Cody Lewis stopped 40 shots.

Surrey held the edge on power play goals scoring three to Delta's two. Surrey also led in penalty minutes with 16 minutes to Delta's 12 minutes.

Surrey's next game is against the Port Coquitlam Saints Friday night at 8:00 PM at the Port Coquitlam Arena.

May 20, 2006 - Eitel Scores Six Goals for Stickmen in Overtime Loss to Nanaimo

Surrey Stickmen's Dane Eitel scored six goals in a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Nanaimo Timbermen Saturday night at Nanaimo's Civic Centre. Nanaimo's Jonathan Diplock seemed unstoppable with seven goals against Stickmen goaltenders. Also scoring for Surrey was Shawn Saunders with three goals, Robert Brommer with two, Robert Rowan with one and Jordy Willing scored his first career Junior A goal. Keith Jones had five assists. Supporting Diplock's tremendous scoring output was Ryan Clark and Intermediate call up Colt Clark each with two goals. Adam Stewart, Paul Makowsky, Matt Tregear and Matt Wray each scored one goal.

Nanaimo got off to a quick start with Diplock first goal assisted by goaltender Brandon Atherton at the 3 minute mark of the first period, quickly followed by his second goal, unassisted, at the 4:03 mark. Surrey countered by taking the lead with three goals scored at 6:41 by Robert Brommer and assisted by Keith Jones, at 8:19 on a powerplay goal by Shawn Saunders assisted by Ross Holliday and Keith Jones and at 10:00 by Dane Eitel's first goal assisted by Jones and Brommer. Nanaimo tied the game with Diplock's third goal at 11:59, unassisted. Nanaimo regained the lead with a goal by Paul Makowsky at 14.46 assisted by Kyle Bazansky and Adam Stewart. Nanaimo took a two goal lead with Diplock's fourth goal at 16:35 assisted by Russell Thomas and Chris Madden. Surrey cut Nanaimo's lead to one at 17:45 on Dane Eitel's second goal, unassisted.

At the start of second period Surrey tied the score at 1:10 on Jordy Willing's first goal of the season, unassisted. The lead was regained by Surrey at 3:11 on a power play goal by Shawn Saunders, assisted by Dain Panton and Keith Jones. Nanaimo then scored three unanswered goal to again take the lead on a power play goal at 4:40 by Ryan Clark assisted by Makowsky, a short-handed, unassisted goal at 14:13 by Diplock and a goal at 15:13 by Matt Tregear assisted by Stewart and Bazansky to lead the Stickmen 8 to 6.

Surrey regrouped in the third period with two goals, the first goal at 0:16 by Eitel, assisted by Dane Reelie. Surrey tied the score with a goal at 5:34 by Brommer assisted by Shawn Rowan. The Stickmen regained the lead with a goal by Robert Rowan at 6:16, assisted by Ernie Hancock and Jones. Nanaimo answered with a short-handed goal at 11:13 scored by Ryan Clark, assisted by Makowsky. The lead was taken by Nanaimo at 13:38 on a goal by Colt Clark, assisted by Stewart and Ryan Clark. Surrey tied the game at 14:29 on a goal by Saunders assisted by Eitel and goaltender Cody Lewis and took the lead at 16:36 by Eitel's unassisted goal. In the last minute of regulation time Nanaimo tied the game with Diplock's sixth goal, assisted by Colt Clark and Ryan Clark.

In overtime, Surrey took a two goal lead with first a powerplay goal by Eitel at 3:48, assisted by Panton, follow by Eitel's six goal at 4:24, assisted by Reelie. Nanaimo scored three unanswered goals to win the game, scored by Colt Clark, unassisted at 6:45, a powerplay goal by Bazansky unassisted at 9:28 and the winner was scored on Diplock's seventh goal with 25 seconds left in overtime, assisted by Ryan Dietterle and Cam Leitch.

Brandon Smith started for the Stickmen and made 27 saves. He was injured at end of the second period and Cody Lewis stepped in and made 16 saves in the third period and overtime. Brandon Atherton played the entire game for Nanaimo making 25 saves.

May 18, 2006 - Surrey Stickmen Drop Fourth in a Row

Despite a number of new faces in the lineup the Surrey Stickmen lost 7 to 4 to the Coquitlam Adanacs with a good effort in BC Junior A Lacrosse action at North Surrey Rec Centre Thursday night. The win moved Coquitlam into a first place tie with Burnaby.

Calvin Craig, Jarett Davis and Int. 'A' call up Matt Demkier scored two goals each for the Adanacs. Craig also picked up two assists for a four point evening. Shawn Saunders led the way for Surrey scoring two goals. Dain Reelie also had a two point night with a goal and an assist. Surrey's Robert Rowan also scored.

The Stickmen lead 3 to 2 after the first period with Cody Lewis stopping 15 of 17 shots. In the second period Surrey was held to one goal with a brilliant effort from the Coquitlam netminder, Tyler Richards who stopped 15 of 16 shots. The Adanacs scored four times to lead 6 to 4 at the end of the second period. The Adanacs bagged an insurance goal at the 13 minute mark of the third period to lead 7 to 4.

Despite being out shot 33 to 45 the Stickmen defense played a strong game. Surrey netminder, Cody Lewis put in a solid effort.

May 13, 2006 - Stickmen Lose Third in a Row in a Close Game Against the Delta Islanders

Surrey Stickmen lost 8 to 7 in a see-saw battle against the Delta Islanders in BC Junior A Lacrosse action in Ladner Saturday night.

Surrey led 2-0 at the end of the first period on two goals by Shawn Saunders. The Islanders tied the score in the first minute of the second period on a short-handed goal by Justin Lalli and a goal by Jesse Willis. Delta led by a score of 4-2 at the end of the second period adding a pair of goals by Tom Johnson.

Surrey regained the lead in the third period on goals by Dain Panton, Ernie Hancock and Shawn Saunders. Delta regained the lead by a short-handed goal scored by Jason Jones. Surrey's Shawn Saunders regained the lead on a powerplay goal only to have Delta score three unanswered goals by Brodie Venn, Brent Cline and newly acquired Jake Safarik. Surrey made it close with a goal within the last two minutes by Dane Reelie.

Top point-getters for Surrey were: Shawn Saunders with four goals and Dain Panton with one goal and three assists. Delta's scoring was lead by Tom Johnson with two goals and two assists and Justin Lalli with one goal and two assists.

Cody Lewis made 29 saves for Surrey, and Brandon Smith making 19 saves. Ben Salter played the entire game for Delta making 50 saves.

Both teams managed to stay out of the penalty box with 31 minutes being assessed to Surrey and 33 minutes against Delta.

May 11, 2006 - Stickmen Fall to Lakers

The Surrey Stickmen returned home to go up against the 2005 Minto Cup champion Burnaby Lakers. The home crowd got their first look at Cliff Smith returning to the lineup this year however it was not enough to stop the Lakers who went on to win 15-3 at the North Surrey arena.

It was a close fought start to the game before the Lakers kicked it into high gear and outscored the Stickmen 5-1 in the first. Despite Surrey scoring two in the second, Burnaby extended their lead to 9-3 at the end of the period. The last period was all Burnaby where they finished up the game scoring six more goals including three in the last minute of play.

For Burnaby it was all Jamie Shewchuk who accounted for 6 of the Laker's goals tonight as well as Jamie Lincoln with 5 of his own. Others were Bobby Snider with 2, Kyle Starchuk and Pete McFetridge with one each.

Burnaby's goal tender Ron Schibild played the entire game stopping 30 shots.

The Stickmen's Cliff Smith had an impact in his first game back with a two point night of one goal and an assist. Dane Reelie had his own two point night with a goal and assist as well. The third goal of the night went to Ross Halliday. In net Cody Lewis played all three periods stopping 29 shots for the Surrey Stickmen.

With the win over Surrey, Burnaby continues undefeated and leads the standings with a perfect 4-0 record. The Stickmen stay tied for fifth place at 1-3 with both Delta and Victoria and go on the road to face Delta this Saturday.

May 9, 2006 - Stickmen No Match for Salmonbellies

The Surrey Stickmen were defeated by the New Westminster Salmonbellies 20 to 4 at Queens Park Arena in Junior A Lacrosse action.

Eleven Bellies found their mark with Eric Ross and Steve Tessarolo leading the charge with four goals apiece. Following with two each were Mike Paul, Curtis Hoyland and Kevin Crowley. Also scoring were, Tanner Skolrood, Jordan McBride, Kyle Belton, Isaac Kaminsky, Craig Vermette and Andrew Witt. Sean Tessarolo in net stopped 34 shots.

Stickmen goalies both faced the heat with an onslaught of 57 missiles with 20 finding the mark. Cody Lewis played 25 minutes before handing over to Brandon Smith early in the second period.

With the Stickmen scoreless in the first period, Dain Reelie broke the spell with a powerplay goal in the second period, assisted by Rob Brommer and Dain Panton. Late in the second, John Ballantine was set up for his goal by Dylan Hernandez. Dain Panton finished his night with two goals in the third period with Matt Hannah assisting with a late third period goal. The Stickmen found their mark four times out of a total of 38 tries.

The officials had a relaxing night, assessing 15 minutes in penalties to the home team and 9 minutes to the visitors.

May 6, 2006 - Stickmen Defeat Timbermen to Even Record at 1-1

The Surrey Stickmen evened their record to one win and one loss with a home victory over the Nanaimo Timbermen in Junior A Lacrosse action Saturday night. The score was 13 to 8 for the Stickmen in a fight-filled affair.

Leading the scoring for Surrey was Keith Jones with three goals and four assists. Dane Panton had five points with two goals and three assists. Both Dylan Hernandez and Dane Reelie had four points on one goal and three assists. Also scoring was Ryan Harwood with two goals and Ernest Hancock, Matt Hannah and Shawn Saunders each with one goal apiece. Scoring for Nanaimo were Adam Stewart with three goals, Ryan Clark and Kyle Bazansky each with two goals and Paul Makowsky with one goal.

The Stickmen lead the parade to the penalty box with 80 minutes with Nanaimo being assessed 74 minutes. Brandon Smith started in goal for the Stickmen and made 55 saves. Nanaimo platooned both goaltenders Brandon Atherton who made 35 saves and Tom Wray who stopped five shots.

Surrey built up a commanding lead of 7 to 1 at the end of the first period. The Stickmen got into penalty trouble in the second period playing short handed most of the period and were outscored by Nanaimo 5 to 3. Surrey outscored Nanaimo 3 to 2 in a lack luster third period.

April 30, 2006 - Surrey Stickmen Drop Home Opener

The Surrey Stickmen were defeated by the Victoria Shamrocks 13 to 9 in their home opener at North Surrey Rec Centre in Junior A Lacrosse action.

Leading the scoring for Victoria was James Cadwallader with four goals and one assist. Tyler Hass had a six point night with 2 goals and four assists. Other Victoria marksmen were Kevin Milkowski with three goals and Lee Diercks, Tim Evoy, Kyle Norwick and Scott Norwick with one goal each.

Shawn Saunders had a big night for Surrey with three goals and two assists. Dane Reelie and John Balantine each scored two goals. Ryan Harwood and Robert Rowan scored one goal each. The referees were kept busy with 150 minutes in penalties with 79 minutes being called on Surrey and 71 called on Victoria.
