Stickmen Land Kyle Starchuk

Before the ball has drawn on opening night the Stickmen were fast out of the gate to make some key moves for the 2007 season. Continuing on from last year, Surrey made a trade with Burnaby to acquire Kyle Starchuk from the Laker's Junior 'A' team.

 Along with the deal the Stickmen received the Laker's first and second round draft picks in the inaugural 2007 Midget draft that was held on

Sunday, February 11th. As well Surrey will also receive one more player to be determined at a later date.

Last season , Starchuk finished the 2006 regular season with 39 points with a powerhouse Burnaby Lakers team. Kyle has also played in two Minto Cups, winning in 2005.

Stickmen Pick First Overall In
Midget Draft

With the first pick overall in the inaugural Junior 'A' Lacrosse "free agent" Midget draft the Stickmen picked up goalie Devon Winter from Ridge Meadows.
Devon, considered one of the best 16 year old goal tenders in the province, started playing his minor lacrosse in Mission.

He finished his minor career playing Midget A1 for Ridge Meadows. The Stickmen drafted a total of 15 players in the 2007 draft. For a complete list see the news page on the Stickmen website.

Player: John Ballantine
Position: Forward

John starts his third year with the Stickmen Junior 'A' team and will support the team with his senior leadership. His toughness and willingness to do what it takes to win makes John a danger to many teams when he's around the net.

After growing up and playing his minor lacrosse in Burnaby, John continued his career in Surrey where he played two years with the Stickmen Intermediate 'A' team. John also plays field lacrosse where one of his many achievements included playing in the U19 nationals.

2nd Annual Stickmen Camp

The Stickmen Junior 'A' lacrosse team will be holding their 2nd annual lacrosse camp this year for those advanced minor lacrosse players. If your playing Bantam, Peewee or Novice lacrosse this year and you're interested in learning from some Stickmen players and coaches then email us to register today! Space is very limited.

Cost: $15.00 or $10.00 for goalies

Includes: Two hours of instruction, Stickmen T-Shirt and one free student's entry to the Stickmen Jr 'A' lacrosse game after - and more!
