Last Chance For Stickmen To Fry The Fish

It has been a tough week for the Stickmen after losing against Nanaimo in overtime in a game that was critical to their chances for the playoffs and then being crushed by Coquitlam last night.

Despite all that as well as currently being in last place the BCJALL there have been plenty of positives about the Stickmen year to date. With only six third year players they have managed to win more games then last year. As well they have a very promising group of young guns including possible rookie of the year in Mitch Dibblee.

With thirty points to date in scoring and hanging in the top twenty in leaders Mitch hopes tonight is the night to elevate the teams status when they take on the New West Salmonbellies.

After losing 13-5 in the first match up the Stickmen regrouped and came out hard in a much closer game two nights later, losing only
7-3.

The Fish are coming off a huge win over the number one Burnaby Lakers yet losses to Poco and Nanamo earlier in the year makes one question which New West team will show up tonight.

With time running out on the season Surrey hopes tonight is the night of upsets by adding a fish to that Surrey frying pan.

Player Profiles

Player: Sean Messenger
Position: Transition
Shoots: Left
Height: 5' 10""
Weight: 170lbs
Born: 1988
Home Town: Langley, BC

Intermediate 'A': Surrey
Minor: Langley

Sean was a late arrival into camp coming in from out of town this year but was a very pleasant surprise. As a hard worker and tough guy, especially for his size, Sean doesn't have a problem messing it up with the big boys around the league.

His speed and toughness has allowed him to gain plenty of floor time and is one of the top first year players on the team.

Previous to this year Sean played a couple of years of Intermediate for the Stickmen. His minor lacrosse was played in Langley where he still resides today. Based on this years performance we can expect a lot from Sean in the next few years.
