Junior 'A' Stickmen
Open Exhibition Game With New Faces
The
South Fraser Stickmen have gone through a few changes since last year starting with their name, reverting back to the original 'South Fraser' title.
As well the Stickmen have been working hard on the trade front in an effort to bring the club back to its 2005 league champion level. We get our first look this weekend as the take on Victoria in the second annual Georgia Cup classic.
New faces this year include Mike Lowe going between the pipes who signed as a free agent after playing a year in Delta. He faced a league leading 833 shots in net and still managed to record a very respectable 81.87 save percentage all while he was playing as an aged up Intermediate.
Other new players include Anthony Besse who was traded from Coquitlam for a 2009 draft pick. Besse brings his intense style of play along with the ability to play transition as well as solid defense for South Fraser. A third year player, Besse played 18 regular season games with the Adanacs last year as well as five post season games.
From the US, Seattle high school standout Greg Mahoney joins the Stickmen this season. He was a high school All American in field lacrosse while playing for Seattle’s Mercer Island High School and will be joining Yale University's field team next year.
Earlier this year the Stickmen made a trade with Victoria for second year player Scott Davidson. Scott came out from Winnipeg last season to play his first year of Junior 'A' over on the rock. Now he gets his first chance to go against his former team mates.
The Stickmen take on the Victoria Shamrocks in their first exhibition this Sunday April 13th with the opening draw at 2:00pm.
Don't miss out!!
