2008 Junior 'A' Stickmen
Home Opener Sunday

Its a bit different look for the South Fraser Stickmen this year as they added a few new faces and changed up their game plan.

The opened their season in Burnaby on Wednesday and surprised the fans by jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead and finished the period up 5-3 on the 2007 BCJALL champions. The new Stickmen showed some great speed that translated into one of the fastest games South Fraser has played in years.

Burnaby came back in the second and the teams split the third giving the home team Lakers a 13-8 victory. Although a loss, this was a big step forward for South Fraser compared to their best performance against the Lakers last year.

Victoria returns for the second time this year after winning the second annual Georgia Cup classic exhibition game earlier this month. Things are different now as this is regular season and these young Stickmen have had some floor time to gain experience.

Victoria's power players of Cayle Ratcliff and Michael Pires will take on the big free agent signing Mike Lowe who starts between the pipes for South Fraser.

Along with Lowe other fresh faces of Anthony Besse (Coquitlam), Greg Mahoney (Mercer Island High School), Darryl Striker (Coquitlam) and ex-Victoria Shamrock player Scott Davidson will join Veteran Stickmen Johnson, Willing and Harwood in looking for their first win of the year in what should be an exciting and fast paced home opener against Victoria.
